With a view to provide industries in Coimbatore region, as well as other centres in the region CODISSSIA organized International Industrial Trade Fairs (INTEC) in 1988, 1991, 1994 and 1997 at the grounds of the PSG College of the technology. These fairs helped the industries achieve tremendous growth during the last decade of the 20th century.
The need for a World Class permanent venue for Trade Fairs was the need at that
time and CODISSIA built the First Phase of the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex in
1999 and put to use in the year 2000. Since then following fairs have been
organized by CODISSIA which have helped in technology Upgradation and the growth
of Industries and Exports.

The above fairs have attracted a large number of domestic as well as international visitors. Though a large number of visitors are from the SAARC region, others from East Asia, Europe and Africa also frequent the fairs. These fairs also provide an opportunity for the industries in the region to showcase their products to such visitors and improve their exports.

Numerous medical conferences and conventions have been held in the CODISSIA
Trade Fair Complex organized by Surgeons, Orthopedics, Gynecologists, and
Ophthalmologists which had showcased Coimbatore as a major centre for medical
tourism also in the country.

LOCATION OF THE INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT:
The Coimbatore Region consisting of the western part of Tamil Nadu comprises of some of the most industrialized districts in the State. The Districts of Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem and Karur constitute a large number of SMEs (over 100,000) and larger industries and cater significantly to the State GDP.
Coimbatore is also strategically located at a close distance of about 200 KMs to
other major cities like Kochi, Kozhikode, Trichy, Madurai, Mysore and Bengaluru.
Considering the high quality of fairs taking place in the trade fair complex, large number of visitors from around the country and abroad visit the complex. The complex is located just 2 Kms from the Coimbatore International Airport and hence is easily accessible from all around the world.
